365 project week 46

I have a confession to make…  occasionally, during the year, I have fudged on a few of my photos.  Meaning I didn’t actually take them on the day they are dated, but maybe a day or two on either side.  I figured it really didn’t matter on most days, as they were usually ongoing subjects (chickens, kittens, etc.) and would have been happening on more than one day anyway.  But then this week, I had no photo for the 18th, and two for the 19th — and they were both one-time events that I wanted to label the day they happened.  So, you’ll notice two images dated the 19th — please don’t judge me.  😉

Lots more inside images lately, as it has been cold here (for us).  We are definitely hunkering down with cozy activities like drinking tea and reading.  It’s nice to have a little down time before the craziness of the holidays ensues.  I can already feel it coming…  but for now…

Halloween!  What a crazy fun week — so glad it’s done!  🙂  But boy does it now really feel like winter is on it’s way.  Sunset at 4:30ish, more leaves on the ground than the trees, and holiday decorations already in stores.  And this is how we going careening into the end of the year.  Just a few more months of my daily photos…  will I feel relief or sadness without them?  Only time will tell.  In the mean time…

It was a busy week leading up to Halloween, getting ready for all the celebrations and class parties.  It was fun, but I’m glad it’s done!  Good news on the braces front — not only did we get Halloween colored bands, but we have appointments scheduled to get them removed!  Just in time to eat all that gooey candy she hasn’t been able to eat since getting them on.  😉  We also got to see the eclipse, which was pretty neat — getting a sunbreak at the right time in October in Seattle is pretty rare, so I tried to make the most of it.  I think I was more excited than the kids, though.  Oh, and I also earned my yellow belt in karate!  Whew!

As promised, more kittens and chickens heading your way!  Guess that’s what happens when it gets to be this time of year.  🙂

It’s starting to feel like the holidays are inching closer, what with our turkey sighting and early Christmas gift to ourselves.  Luckily the weather is still cooperating, mostly, so it doesn’t feel quite like that time of the year.  But I’m coming up on ready, as I do enjoy the holidays.  Just not quite prepared for those holiday decorations showing up in stores yet, when Halloween still hasn’t happened.  🙂

Week 40!  My little project has hit middle age.  Haha.  Actually, this means there are only 12 weeks left, so I would say more than middle age.  I’m still a little surprised at myself that I stuck with it, but so glad that I am.  I’ve decided to do an album at the end of the year, with a page for each year.  And I can’t wait to see the finished product — I think it will be such a fun book to look back on as the years continue on.  Ok, back to the present with last weeks photos:

Week 39…  sliding into October.   How did that happen?!  I just blinked and September is gone.  Do you feel that way, too, or is it just me?  And now that it is October, I can see the slippery slope that is the holidays.  Not that I mind, as I enjoy the holidays.  It’s just that I feel like I’d like a little more warning.  Maybe a big CAUTION sign that pops up in mid September to remind me what’s coming around the bend sooner than I think.  Who do we need to talk to about that?  Anyway, now that we’re settling back into routine, I’m guessing you’ll probably be getting more cat and chicken pictures again.  Hopefully you missed them this summer and are ready for more.  🙂

What to say about week 38?  A little bit of this, a little bit of that on a lot of fronts.  I guess the biggest event was I started a new part-time job as an assistant preschool teacher.  Don’t worry — I’m not quitting the photography business, but in being truly honest with myself, I found that I just wasn’t busy enough and needed something else with a steady paycheck.   And can I just point out how amazingly supportive my family has been with all my crazy life decisions?  I am so thankful for that and for their acceptance of my jack-of-all-trades personality.

Sisters in the garden | seattle, wa family photographer

I had so much fun meeting this family and exploring the Woodland Park Zoo rose garden on a gorgeous sunny morning last weekend.  We saw bunnies and bees and the smell was just heavenly!  These sisters had so many great ideas on where to go and what to do, it was better than an assistant!  And did you see those eyes?!  I hope you enjoy your sneak peek, “G” family!
